Nathan turned 3 on December 29th and we had quite a day. I took the day off work and still sent Emie to the babysitter's house so Nathan and I could have a date :) We headed over to Monkey Joe's for some serious bounce house fun. Initially it was pretty empty, so I went on a bunch of the slides with him.
We paused for a water refill. All of that jumping and climbing does make one thirsty.
We returned quickly to our fun. This was Nathan's favorite slide, I think.
We headed home for lunch and a nap. After Nathan woke up and Emie was back from the sitter's, we showed Nathan his dump truck cake. He was pretty excited about the donut wheels.
Later, my family, some of Gus' family and our dear friends who are pretty much like family, came to celebrate with us. We had pizza and dump truck cake.
Nathan blew out all of his candles. Most of us avoided the slices in close proximity to the blowing.
Grandma and Emie enjoyed their cake together.
Gus, Dad and Linda enjoying their cake.
Emie basically covered herself in frosting and then got really embarrassed when we all laughed at her.
Even though I hadn't told anyone that I was making a truck cake, everyone gave Nathan trucks! He was thrilled and has been playing with them (and sleeping with them!) since.
It's amazing how fast these three years have gone. The baby is long gone and the boy is here. Of course, there is some sadness that he's not my little baby anymore, but he gets to be more and more fun by the day and I love being able to hear his take on things. He had his 3 year old check up today which included standing on the real scale for the first time, blood pressure and even an eye test. He is 30 lbs (25th percentile) and 37.5 inches (50th percentile). I can't wait to see how he grows this year!
